In order to maintain adequate perfusion to the vital organs of the body a mean arterial pressure (MAP) of 60 mmHg must be maintained. MAP is a calculation of average blood pressure using systolic and diastolic blood pressure measurements. MAP is calculated as follows:
 
  A) MAP = DBP + (SBPDBP)/3
