A middle-aged female patient has dialed 911 for an abdominal emergency. Given the patient's complaint, the EMT would recognize the shoulder pain as:

  A) referred pain.

What action would make you intervene immediately?

  A) Since I am not having chest pain, I am not going to take my nitroglycerin.
