Answer to Question 1

Goosebumps (hairs that are raised by contraction of the arrector pili muscles) create an insulating space between the air and the skin. Constricting blood vessels in the dermis divert blood away from the body surface so that the air will not cool it.

Answer to Question 2

d
Rationale: a. Furosemide does not have an effect on contractility, but does reduce preload.
b. Furosemide relaxes the venous system, but not arterial.
c. Furosemide has no effect on beta receptors.
