The following order was written for a child weighing 66 lbs.
 
  Order: Morphine 0.2 mg/kg p.o. q.6h p.r.n, pain.
 
  The recommended dose of this medication for this child is 0.2 mg-5 mg/kg per q.4-6h. Is the dose mentioned above within the recommended range and therefore safe to administer?

Yes, the ordered amount of 1.5 mg per dose q.6h is within the recommended range and is therefore safe to administer.
