What was the long-term significance of Woody Guthrie's songs?
 
  a. Progressive Republicans used them as theme songs during their election campaigns, the first instance of using popular songs in political campaigns.
  b. They represented the experiences of poor farm laborers, and exemplify the first time that poor workers had songs speak about their lives.
