Answer to Question 2

The cerebral cortex has a left and right hemisphere, each of which contains four primary divisions, or lobes. The two hemispheres are connected by a broad band of fibers called the corpus callosum. The frontal lobe is at the front. It is the central executive that involves higher functions such as problem solving and decision making. At the very rear is a thin slice called the motor cortex. This contains neurons that control voluntary muscle movement. Behind the frontal lobe is the parietal lobe. At the front of the parietal lobe is the somatosensory cortex. This is where sensations from the parts of the body are received. At the rear of the brain is the occipital lobe. It is
the primary station for initial processing of visual information. At the side of the brain is the temporal lobe, where initial processing of auditory information occurs.
