How many valence electrons does group 1 atoms have in periodic table? how do you know this? and how about group 2?

group one has 1 valence electron and group two has two valence electrons. You can tell by e/ of the atomic structures of the elements but to make it simpler, just remeber that group one starts with one and then goes to two. and then the halogens and noble gases equal a negative number of valence electrons. good luck, hope this helps :)

All of the elements in group 1 (Alkali Metals) have 1 valence electron
and all of the elements in group 2 (Alkaline Earth Metals) have 2 valence electrons.
