Predictive validity relates to how well a test can predict future performance on a particular task. For example, many high school students are required to take college entrance exams, such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), so that a prediction of their probable success in their first semester of college may be obtained. This is one of several pieces of information used by colleges and universities in the selection for admissions process.
