Answer to Question 1

Trust is important in any professional relationship, but especially so for forensic accountants given the adversary-advocacy nature of their work. Trust plays a role not only in the development of a forensic accountant's opinions, but also in the communication of those opinions, especially in a trial setting. The outcome of a case is ultimately decided by the trier of fact (for example, the jury in a jury trial). In this role, the trier of fact must assess the credibility of witnesses, including expert witnesses. To be deemed credible and thus facilitate a connection with the jury, forensic accountants must display the attribute of trustworthiness.
