Answer to Question 1

Sternberg proposes a model, based upon his triarchic view, for teaching and assessment. According to this model, the forms of instruction and assessment used in the classroom are matched to different ability patterns. This allows students to excel when the task and related assessment materials match the student's ability. Conversely, when the instruction, assessment, and ability patterns are not matched, the students will have the opportunity to develop abilities in which they are relatively weak. Sternberg suggests that students need both types of experiences.
