Britney has been identified as gifted in the area of musical intelligence, as defined by Gardner. She excels in your third grade music appreciation class and has demonstrated a good ear for music. Does this mean that she will, necessarily, be an accomplished musician someday? Explain why or why not.

Gardner's theory is often misinterpreted to mean that a person who excels in one of the intelligences will be equally gifted on all tasks related to that domain. This is not true. People experience different levels of ability across tasks within a domain. Britney may be able to appreciate and properly identify the musical pieces that she hears but have little or no aptitude for playing an instrument.
