Answer to Question 1

Answer: According to the equation BE = TFC/(P - VC), when TFC increases, BE, the break-even point, also increases, requiring more units to be sold for the product to make a profit. Increasing P increases the value of the denominator in the equation, which results in the value of BE dropping. Finally, increasing VC decreases the value of the denominator in the equation, which results in the value of BE increasing.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Current value is calculated by finding the ratio of a company's current assets to its current liabilities. A current ratio that is significantly greater than 2:1 suggests that the company is asset-heavy and is not receiving the best return possible on the assets it has. A current ratio of less than 1:1 suggests that the company has too many liabilities and may soon have trouble meeting its short-term obligations, such as payroll, and paying taxes.

In inpatient settings, adverse drug events account for an estimated one in three of all hospital adverse events. They affect approximately 2 million hospital stays every year, and prolong hospital stays by between one and five days.

As many as 28% of hospitalized patients requiring mechanical ventilators to help them breathe (for more than 48 hours) will develop ventilator-associated pneumonia. Current therapy involves intravenous antibiotics, but new antibiotics that can be inhaled (and more directly treat the infection) are being developed.

Nearly all drugs pass into human breast milk. How often a drug is taken influences the amount of drug that will pass into the milk. Medications taken 30 to 60 minutes before breastfeeding are likely to be at peak blood levels when the baby is nursing.

A recent study has found that following a diet rich in berries may slow down the aging process of the brain. This diet apparently helps to keep dopamine levels much higher than are seen in normal individuals who do not eat berries as a regular part of their diet as they enter their later years.
