For example, IBM's founder, Thomas Watson, laid down the foundation for his company in the 1920s as an organization that pursues excellence. The culture evolves as it interacts with current members of the organization. Thus, IBM's current CEO Louis Gerstner went back to the founder's original vision of the company but infused a modern interpretation of that vision into the current company.
