Affirmative action and employee diversity are not the same thing. Affirmative action is a government-mandated program that requires corporations to provide opportunities to women and members of minority groups who traditionally have been excluded from good jobs. It aims to accomplish the goal of fair employment by urging employers to make a conscious effort to hire members of protected classes. Diversity is the wide spectrum of individual and group differences.
