Business ethics provide standards or guidelines for the conduct and decision making of employees and managers. Business ethics are not the same thing as laws. Law and ethics are in agreement in some situations but not in others. For example, it is both illegal and unethical to steal merchandise from an employer, but often it is not illegal to engage in conduct that is unethical (such as taking credit for another employee's work).
