Answer to Question 1

The results section presents the outcomes of the statistical analyses of the data. The conclusions tell what the results mean in conceptual terms. Conclusions are inferences based on the results. For example, the results might report that the difference in mean performance between the group taught by Method A and the group taught by Method B was statistically significant at the .01 level. The conclusions might be that Method A is a more effective teaching strategy and should be considered.

Answer to Question 2

Social constructivism focuses on the role of culture and social interaction in the process of meaningful learning. According to this view, meaningful learning occurs when people are explicitly taught how to use the psychological tools of their culture and are then given the chance to use these tools to foster individual and/or shared understanding. Table 9.1 summarizes the characteristics and instructional implications of social constructivism.

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.

Hypertension is a silent killer because it is deadly and has no significant early symptoms. The danger from hypertension is the extra load on the heart, which can lead to hypertensive heart disease and kidney damage. This occurs without any major symptoms until the high blood pressure becomes extreme. Regular blood pressure checks are an important method of catching hypertension before it can kill you.
