Answer to Question 1

A

Answer to Question 2

Gender bias affects students in the following ways:
a.In high school, students of both genders take about the same number and type of math courses. However, boys are more likely than girls to take algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. Also, girls are more likely to take courses in the biological sciences, rather than the physics or engineering classes that boys take. Therefore, course selection is affected by gender bias.
b. Career choice is affected by gender bias. Girls are less likely than boys to choose a career in science or mathematics.
c. Gender bias affects class participation. Society reinforces males who are assertive, curious, and outspoken. Girls are rewarded for being polite, helpful, quiet, and nurturing. Therefore, boys are more likely than girls to actively participate in classroom discussions.
