Self-esteem has several implications for understanding behavior in organizations. Self-esteem influences people's choices of activities and jobs. Individuals with high self-esteem are more likely than individuals with low self-esteem to choose challenging careers and jobs. Once they are on the job, individuals with high self-esteem may set higher goals for themselves and be more likely to tackle difficult tasks.
