Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

There are many forces for change acting on an organization. These include:
1 Technology  Offices have exchanged typewriters for word processors, factories have replaced workers with robots, grocery stores are using scanners, etc. Computer technology is changing the way work is done.
2 Employee demographics  In addition to the workforce becoming more racially and ethnically diverse, more women, more foreign workers, and more elderly people are entering the workforce. To compete successfully in the labor market, HR professionals have to meet the needs of a more diverse labor pool.
3 Performance gaps  Discrepancies between real and expected levels of organizational performance pressure organizations to reevaluate their operations.
4 Government regulations  Governments impose and eliminate regulations on businesses. Organizations must continually adjust their operations to conform.
5 The Sarbanes-Oxley Act  Enacted in 2002, the law is designed to protect the American public from questionable accounting practices. It requires publically traded companies to make many substantial changes.
6 Global economic competition  Competition is no longer limited to within the U.S. In addition, U.S. businesses sell and outsource goods and services to foreign businesses.
