Answer to Question 1

Division of labor describes the process of dividing many tasks to be performed within an organization into specialized jobs. This narrows the range of activities to be performed by an individual employee. In theory, a person is able to specialize in just a few tasks, which in turn improves quality. Thus the organization will only need to hire workers with few skills, which can minimize both training and wage costs. In practice, division of labor can lead to monotony with the result that people may lose their motivation to work at a high level and performance may suffer.
