Answer to Question 1

Prejudice refers to negative feelings about people belonging to certain groups. These attitudes may be based on such characteristics as race, nationality, sex, and religion. Stereotypes are judgments about people based on their memberships in certain groups. These judgments may be positive or negative and are not always accurate. Discrimination occurs when behavior is based on prejudice or stereotypes. Affirmative action plans are an attempt to provide employment opportunities for qualified individuals belonging to groups that traditionally have been disadvantaged as a result of prejudice and unlawful discrimination. Some organizations have adopted diversity management programs in an effort to celebrate diversity by creating supportive work environments for women and minorities.
