In a review of goal-setting studies, the median improvement in performance resulting from goal setting was 16 percent. The same study found goal setting, when combined with the use of monetary incentives, improved performance by more that 40 percent. Another study found goal setting to have significantly affected attitudes toward others, the job, and the organization. In a review of total company strength, it was found that the performance of a company is strongly related to the extent of goal setting and planning activities.
