Whistle-blowing means to report an unethical or illegal behavior of another employee or of the company to the proper officials. Whistle-blowers risk being penalized for their lack of loyalty.

A core competency is a distinctive strength or advantage that is central to a firm's operations. Firms use their core competencies in new markets and increase their revenues and profits.
