Answer to Question 1

With unsupervised data mining, analysts do not create a model or hypothesis before
running the analysis. Instead, they apply a data mining technique to the data and observe the
results. With this method, analysts create hypotheses after the analysis to explain the patterns
found. These findings are obtained solely by data analysis.
One common unsupervised technique is cluster analysis. With it, statistical techniques identify
groups of entities that have similar characteristics. A common use for cluster analysis is to find
groups of similar customers from customer order and demographic data.

Answer to Question 2

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
