Answer to Question 1

UML-style E-R diagrams use an x..y cardinality format., where x is the minimum cardinality and y is the maximum cardinality. An asterisk () is used to represent an unlimited number. Thus, 0..1 means the entity has optional participation with a maximum of one, and 1.. means that the entity has mandatory participation with an unlimited maximum.

Chronic necrotizing aspergillosis has a slowly progressive process that, unlike invasive aspergillosis, does not spread to other organ systems or the blood vessels. It most often affects middle-aged and elderly individuals, spreading to surrounding tissue in the lungs. The disease often does not respond to conventionally successful treatments, and requires individualized therapies in order to keep it from becoming life-threatening.

Computer programs are available that crosscheck a new drug's possible trade name with all other trade names currently available. These programs detect dangerous similarities between names and alert the manufacturer of the drug.
