Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

The worksheet data does not need to be normalized, as we can take care of that later. There may be problems importing Excel 2013 data at this writing, the user may need to install the 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components. SQL server may choose the incorrect setting for datatypes or NULL/NOT NULL, but it is best to not change these settings on import, and fix them later.
Right-click on the database object to display a short-cut menu, then select TASKS, then Import Data. Select Microsoft Excel as the data source and the First Row has Column Names option. For the destination, select SQL Server Native Client, next the Copy Data option, and the desired source table (spreadsheet name). Optionally select Edit Mappings, but this is not recommended, then Next and Finish.
