Therefore, many-to-many relationships are essentially broken into two one-to-many relationships by creating an intersection table that represents the relationship itself. The intersection table takes its key as a combination of the keys of the two original, or parent, entities. Each of the parent entities has a one-to-many relationship with the intersection table that is represented by placing the keys of the parents into the intersection table.
