To create a blank diagram for a data model or database design, open Microsoft Visio 2013 or click the File command tab as necessary to display the Backstage view, and then click the New tab to display the available templates. Select Database templates, and then select the Crow's Foot Database Notation template. Click the Create button to create the new, blank diagram.
