First, applications can be partitioned in a way that best fits organizational computing needs. A second advantage is that because most or all of the data analysis is contained in the application server, making global changes or customizing processes for individual users is relatively easy. Thirdly, this architecture provides data presentation device independence, allowing for the use of thin clients, like tablet computers and smartphones, to access information from powerful enterprise-wide information systems.
