Answer to Question 1

The benefits of the enterprise solutions approach include a single repository of data for all aspects of a business process and the flexibility of the modules. A single repository ensures more consistent and accurate data, as well as less maintenance. The modules are flexible because additional modules can be added as needed once the basic system is in place. There are disadvantages to enterprise solutions software. The systems are very complex, so implementation can take a long time to complete. Organizations typically do not have the necessary expertise in-house to implement the systems, so they must rely on consultants or employees of the software vendor, which can be very expensive. In some cases, organizations must change how they do business in order to benefit from a migration to enterprise solutions.

Answer to Question 2

Process. The sequence of data movement and handling operations within the system.
Logic and timing. The rules by which data are transformed and manipulated and an indication of what triggers data transformation. One of the ways to describe the logic and timing of what goes on inside the process boxes is data flow diagrams.
Data. The inherent structure of data independent of how or when they are processed. The process view of a system can be represented by data flow diagrams, shows the rules that govern the structure and integrity of data and concentrates on what data about business entities and relationships among these entities must be accessed within the system.
