Answer to Question 1

Like all ERP systems, SAP consolidates operational data in an OLTP database. Data from the OLTP or from other sources can be extracted and placed into the SAP OLAP database, which SAP calls a data warehouse (BW). Once in the warehouse, the data is formed into information cubes.
