The three main categories are: Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure
as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS)

A typical data warehouse periodically retrieves selected analytically useful data from the operational data sources. In so-called active data warehouses, the retrieval of data from
operational data sources is continuous.
