Because ERP systems are so complex, it is important to manage risk and to be able to learn from both successes and failures. This means that objectives of the project need to be clearly communicated throughout the organization and a clear focus maintained. Managers must continuously evaluate the project status and be flexible enough to take advantage of the capabilities of the ERP system. To be a success, they must also be skillful at managing organizational change. To maintain a competitive advantage, managers must also learn how to integrate their ERP system with the Internet and across the global organization.
