How do sequence diagrams for design differ from those for analysis? In which ones do boundary objects appear? Why?

Answer to Question 1

The design version adds instances for three new classes: classes responsible for interaction with the user, classes that controls the flow of interaction among objects, and classes that save and retrieve data or the state of objects. In other words we add design classes; boundary, control, and utility.
