Generalization is the abstraction of common elements shared by a set of classes into a superclass. Specialization is the creation of a subclass from an existing class by defining elements that are too specific for the parent class. Modern development tools allow developers to inherit general-purpose components and specialize them, or create templates that can be reused to provide common functionality and harmonious appearance across the application.
