Y2K forced companies to look at their existing hardware and software. Y2K and the Internet have required that managers look at processes and adjust and improve them to be able to support e-commerce. Y2K forced companies to analyze access rights and to eliminate legacy processes such as tape data transfer. These events forced companies to put in streamlined and efficient processes.
