Answers should include that teachers introduce four strategies, model the strategies, and gradually encourage independent use of the strategies in small groups as they take on the role of the teacher. The four strategies are (1 ) predicting what the text is about, (2 ) raising questions about the text, (3 ) summarizing the text, and

Answers should include that Web text is nonlinear and challenges readers to think in a new way; students need to have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills; students need to be able to determine what a valuable and credible site is; and teachers can use think-alouds to navigate the Web with students using a WebQuest.
