Answer to Question 1

D
During role transition, it is important for the manager to negotiate the role by writing down the manager's expectations of the role and determining the expectations of others (staff, supervisors) in order to clarify expectations and reduce or ameliorate role ambiguity and role strain. Weins-tock (2011) suggests that it takes up to a year to understand the role, system, and boundaries in a new position.
