The nurse manager can use the action plan to support evidence-based practice, set the expecta-tions for the unit, discuss the importance of the work of evidence-based practice with the unit nurses and other disciplines, encourage and respond to new ideas, promote staff questioning practice, support the team with time to work on the project, be a project cheerleader, track progress, facilitate moving the project through appropriate committees, and allocate resources as needed. By encouraging nurses to attend and present at conferences, stimulating inquiry, and participating in research, nurses on their unit will increase use of evidence-based practice on their unit.
