Answer to Question 1

A
Cultural beliefs serve as a conscious and unconscious point of reference that guides the outlook and decisions of people. Culture incorporates the experience of the past and influences the present. Having cultural beliefs will not help with the process of acculturating to a new environment, help understand other cultures, or help people adjust to the new environment.

Answer to Question 2

C
Several research tools have been developed for measuring spirituality. The Spiritual Perspective Scale is a tool which is used to measure the extent to which one holds spiritual views during spirituality-related interactions. The Spiritual Well-Being Tool measures the psychological dimension of spiritual wellness and the JAREL Spiritual Well-Being Scale measures harmony as a function of interconnectedness. These tools do not measure spiritual distress.

There can actually be a 25-hour time difference between certain locations in the world. The International Date Line passes between the islands of Samoa and American Samoa. It is not a straight line, but "zig-zags" around various island chains. Therefore, Samoa and nearby islands have one date, while American Samoa and nearby islands are one day behind. Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
