Answer to Question 1

B
The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses Project (QSEN project) was developed in collaboration with the Institute of Medicine, American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the National League for Nurses, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The goal of the project is to increase nurses' knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for continuous quality improvement in the places where they work. The six core competencies espoused by QSEN include: 1) patient-centered care, 2) teamwork, 3) evidence-based practice, 4) quality improvement, 5) safety, and 6) informatics. While being a change agent is a valuable skill that can assist nurses in their daily practice, it is not one of the core competencies identified by the QSEN project.

Answer to Question 2

B
The change theory used in this scenario is Roger's (1995) diffusion of innovations theory, which uses the five steps noted above to accomplish change. Havelock's (1973) Change Model involves six steps. Lippitt's (1958) Phases of change theory involves seven steps or phases, and Lewin's (1951) Force-Field Model uses three steps.
