A medical-surgical nurse has transferred to the ICU unit and has completed his orientation. After a few weeks the nurse is stressed and requests a meeting with the manager. The manager learns the nurse is not confident of his skills.

decide how these can be reduced or eliminated. Transferring the nurse to the medical -surgical
unit may add to his stress and is not a win-win situation for both parties. Written instructions
and reducing the nurses work load are not addressing the nurses concerns or requests.
