Answer to Question 1

1
Explanation: 1. The human resources manager, or another staff member, should orient all employees
regarding the organizations policy on how to manage violent incidents. The manager may
have given an appropriate response, but telling the employee to call 911 should have been
presented within the context of that being the organizations policy. This would not be the
appropriate time to discuss the phone system.

Answer to Question 2

3
Explanation: 1. It would be inappropriate to contact the employees physician and/or the workers
compensation nurse; this would violate the employees right to confidentiality.
Human resources is not responsible for covering staff absences. The manager should contact
the injured employee at home to express concern for his or her well-being and follow up with
any questions the employee may have.
