What is the most important reason that excellent communication skills are essential for nurses?
 
  1. Nurses must communicate with all disciplines.
  2. All nursing activities occur in relationships.
  3. Interpersonal skills get the work done.
  4. Good communication ensures no problems occur.

The residents on a particular unit do not answer pages very quickly, and sometimes do not answer them at all. The nursing staff complains to the nursing supervisor. After several weeks, this conflict has spiraled into a heated disagreement.
