Answer to Question 1

Answer: 1

Rationale: Magnet designation is earned by those facilities with employees who are positively motivated, making it the most likely outcome. Most clients will experience improved health outcomes, but not all. Nurses might feel empowered, but will most likely change positions at least within the facility, hopefully upward in management as positions are available. While it is less likely for lawsuits to be brought against a facility in which the employees are appreciated and lines of communication kept open, there is never a guarantee that no lawsuits will be filed.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: 1

Rationale: Based on knowledge about change, the nurse manager would reevaluate the situation weekly, allowing time for the staff to incorporate new attitudes and slowly change the unit climate. Once monthly is not often enough, as the nursing assistants should not have to complete this task by themselves. Twice yearly and annually are not often enough, and unit staff will not buy into the necessary changes if there is no immediate and continued evaluation.
