Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 1

Many women are financially dependent on their abusive partners; if they have outside employment, they are unlikely to make as much as their male counterparts. Also, when children are involved, the mother may need child support but that is routinely not honored by the abuser. The other options do not apply.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 3

Family and social support networks are important to mediate the exposure to community violence toward those of any age or socioeconomic status. Nurses need to be involved in creating safe communities through social policies. Depression is not inevitable.
