Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 4

Nurses will need to focus more upon wellness and prevention in the future, as cost-containment measures continue and the opportunities that community-based health care delivery provides will move the focus on wellness and prevention. Nurses that are on the healthcare front must adapt to the changing environment to ensure future competent care. Diagnosing medical conditions is not within the scope of nursing. Technical skills and rehabilitation are not the priority focus of the community health nurse.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 1

The drivers of change in the future of health care are likely to include consumerism, the disarray of managed care, biotechnological innovation, information technology, and community focus. Managed care has lost favor with health care consumers due in part to the lack of choice in providers and services. As health care costs continue to climb cost containment measures will continue to increase. There is not a projection for a surplus of nurses in the workforce.
