Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 1, 2, 3, 5

It is important for nurses to study global health in order to identify the relevance of global health concepts to nurses' practice in their local communities, to gain a better understanding of progress that has already been made in addressing global health problems, and to identify the global health challenges that remain to be addressed and how to address them most effectively. Knowledge of global health issues is not supported to encourage nurses to migrate to other countries to address ongoing health issues.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 1, 2, 4

In the 1980s and 1990s it was found that multiple factors increased the use of home health care: an increase in the older population, consumers and agencies that preferred health care at home versus hospitalization, and the ability of the industry to deliver high-technology care in the home environment. Medicare and Medicaid encouraged clients to assume more responsibility for their own care in a timelier manner, which led to a decrease in length of treatment, but these initiatives were not mandated. There has been an increase in the need for home care due to the increase in consumers who prefer to receive care in the home rather than an institution.
