Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 2

The major determinant is the set of learning objectives chosen. The nurse's preference in teaching is not a consideration. Although what information is available and the time to teach are important, they should be considered as the objectives are written.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 3

Pain decreases ability to concentrate, so the nurse should provide intervention for pain before teaching. If the medication is administered and allowed to work for 20 to 30 minutes, the client is more likely to be attentive and receptive to teaching.
