Answer to Question 1

C
RAT: The University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle became ANCC's first magnet facility
in 1994 . By 1998, 13 hospitals achieved magnet designation, and, by mid-2006, more than 200
facilities had achieved magnet designation.

Answer to Question 2

A
The primary goal of the 100,000 Lives Campaign, launched in 2004 by the Institute of Healthcare
Improvement (IHI), is to save 100,000 lives among hospitalized patients through improvements in
safety and effectiveness of care. Delivering reliable EB care for acute myocardial infarctions and
preventing adverse drug events through medication reconciliation are two of the targeted intervention
identified, but they are not the primary goals themselves. The evaluation of the effects of actions in
relation to phenomena is one of the defining characteristics of nursing from the 1980 ANA Social
Policy Statement.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
